Byron House was named after Lord Byron who contributed towards the Greek military and saw active service against the invading Turks in 1820, becoming a Greek national hero.

Byron House consists of 3 luxury, air-conditioned, self-catering apartments. Renovated in 2020, it has modern finishes and all the comforts of home. In addition, there is a common barbeque area where visitors are able to entertain themselves. There is an extra fridge and an ice machine which provides relief during the cool evenings and hot summer days.

John and Junita fell in love with Kioni Village, Ithaca Island, during numerous visits on their yacht sailing the Ionian Sea. In 2019 they left South Africa, settled in the village of Kioni, purchased and renovated Byron House, changing it from a residence to three modern apartments. Junita, herself being an artist, finds Kioni, with its' Venetian architecture, yachts sailing in and lush surrounds a heaven for inspiration for her paintings. You will find John meddling in the harbour most days, tinkering on his boats and making sure the facility stays in tip top condition. Jacques, our son provides additional support on the boats and at Byron House.

Byron House is centrally situated in the historical village of Kioni, a stone's throw from the harbour, restaurants, bakery, and supermarket. The swimming beach is 30 meters from our gate. The village is abuzz in summer with visiting yachts anchoring in the harbor. The Venetian architecture, combined with lush forest type vegetation and picturesque scenery, make it a fine artist's paradise. Walking amongst the Cypress trees in the forest, the sound of traditional goat bells can be heard. Staying at Byron House in Kioni will be a truly memorable experience.
